The Waterfront Tables We’d Book in Bodrum

The restaurants we’d choose for the view, the long lunch, the date night, and the party.

For Your Most Romantic Dinner

GAIA

Some Bodrum dinners are about being seen; GAIA is where we would go when the point is the person across the table. Set at Mandarin Oriental on the edge of the Aegean, the seasonal restaurant brings GAIA’s Greek-Mediterranean cooking to one of the peninsula’s most beautiful waterfront settings. Arrive while there is still some light over the water, dress up a little, and settle in for an evening that feels removed from Bodrum’s louder summer circuit.

Dinner is built around sharing, with fresh seafood, Mediterranean flavors, and plates meant to stay at the center of the table while the evening unfolds slowly. As daylight fades, the setting becomes softer and more intimate, making GAIA feel special without requiring much ceremony. It is the table we would book for a date night, an anniversary, or simply an excuse to turn dinner into the evening itself.

For a Long Beach Lunch

Maçakızı

Maçakızı has become part of Bodrum’s summer language. Set on a bougainvillea-covered hillside above Göltürkbükü Bay, it has the rhythm people come to the peninsula for: mornings by the water, long lunches on wooden decks, boats pulling up to the pontoons, and conversations that stretch well into the afternoon. There is always a social charge, but nothing feels rushed. Lunch can easily become the entire day.

Executive Chef Aret Sahakyan gives the restaurant substance beyond the scene, drawing on local growers and the Maçakızı Culinary Gardens for a Mediterranean menu centered on seafood, seasonal vegetables, generous salads, and dishes from the grill. Order for the table, open a bottle of wine, and resist making plans for later. By the time lunch plates disappear and the afternoon light begins to soften over the bay, leaving tends to feel unnecessary.

For the Picture Perfect View

Paper Moon

Paper Moon Bodrum begins with the walk in. The path moves through maritime pines, with resin in the air and flashes of blue appearing between the trees before Demirbükü Bay fully opens in front of you. Then the restaurant appears on wooden terraces above the water, framed by branches and dressed in white tablecloths, rust-orange chairs, and terracotta details.

The beauty here comes from how removed everything feels. Bodrum Loft sits quietly among the pines, with the restaurant looking across turquoise water toward hills that remain almost entirely green. Paper Moon’s Milanese heritage gives the experience a familiar elegance, with Italian classics, seasonal ingredients, and attentive service, but the setting is what makes this particular outpost worth seeking out. It is Bodrum at its most composed: lunch above the water, nowhere else demanding your attention.

For Live Music and Spontaneous Dancing

The Galliard Cove House

The GALLIARD Cove House feels relaxed, elegant, and alive without becoming clubby. Built into Gökçebel Bay with natural stone, chestnut wood, woven reeds, soft fabrics, vegetation, and sand-toned textures, the space has a boho-chic ease that feels deeply connected to the landscape. Most of the experience happens outdoors, with open-air tables, an island bar, music moving through the space, and the bay opening beyond the room.

The view becomes more dramatic as the night develops. At sunset, the water takes on a softer glow; later, lights begin flickering across the hills above the sea until the whole bay looks scattered with small points of gold. Dinner begins with excellent modern Mediterranean dishes, much of it shaped by produce from The GALLIARD’s own farm in Gürece, but the energy keeps shifting. Depending on the night, there may be live musicians playing songs the room starts singing along to, or DJ sets moving from soul into deep house as cocktails replace dessert. It is lively, polished, and loose in exactly the right measure.

For Old School Bodrum

Miam

Long before Bodrum became a circuit of international restaurants, beach clubs, and summer pop-ups, Türkbükü had its own ritual: tables at the water’s edge, boats anchored offshore, long seafood dinners, and familiar faces returning each summer. Miam still belongs to that version of the peninsula. There is no need to manufacture a scene; the setting and the people around the tables provide one naturally.

The menu follows the same logic. Mezes arrive to share, followed by fresh seafood, grilled fish, and Mediterranean dishes that make sense beside the Aegean. Nothing needs to be overly complicated because that is not why you come. Miam is about the particular pleasure of eating well by the water in a place that feels established, confident, and unmistakably Türkbükü—a reminder that some of Bodrum’s best evenings are also its simplest.

For Sushi After the Beach

ROKA

ROKA Bodrum is built for the hour when the beach day is over but the night has not quite begun. Set within Mandarin Oriental overlooking Paradise Bay, the restaurant eases you into the evening with tables near the sand, lanterns beginning to glow, red banquettes, woven chairs, and the robata grill burning inside the open kitchen. There is a particular pleasure in seeing chefs work behind glass while charcoal heat rises from the grill and the water darkens just beyond the terrace. It feels dressed up enough for dinner without requiring a complete departure from the day you have just spent by the water.

The menu brings ROKA’s contemporary Japanese cooking into the seaside setting, moving between sushi and sashimi, robata-grilled dishes, and signatures like miso black cod and yellowtail with yuzu-truffle dressing. As the sky darkens and cocktails replace whatever you were drinking on the beach, the restaurant takes on a sharper energy with DJ sets from Thursday to Saturday that give the room a pulse without overwhelming the bay. It is an easy answer when you want the night to begin without going very far from the sea.

For Waterfront Partying

Folie Restaurant & Sea

FOLIE treats the beach day as a production. The waterfront is designed for spending hours here, moving between the sea, sunbeds, cabanas, lunch, and cocktails while music keeps the day in motion. There is little distinction between the beach club and the restaurant; everything is part of the same experience.

FOLIE

FOLIE’s calendar brings theatrical entertainment, live musicians, DJs, dancers, and performers into the afternoon, turning lunch into something closer to a show and eventually a party. Mediterranean plates, seafood, champagne, rosé, and the much-loved truffle pizza keep tables occupied between swims and performances, but spectacle is the reason to choose it. Come when a quiet beach day sounds like a waste of good weather and you want Bodrum at its most unapologetically fun.
